EHS Risk Management Strategies at EUEC 2014

John-EastonMedgate is pleased to announce that John Easton, Director, Product Management, will speak at the Energy, Utility, and Environment Conference (EUEC) this February. Easton’s session, “Key Factors of a Successful Risk Management Program Implementation” will provide strategies and best practices for Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) leaders looking to implement and improve risk management processes.

Risk management is an important part of an organization’s EHS practice and a requirement of standards-based safety and environmental management systems like ANSI Z10 and ISO 14001.

“While risk management is a critical component of best-in-class EHS systems, many risk programs don’t achieve their full potential” says Easton. “EHS teams often start out with good intentions but then become crippled by obstacles – whether it’s gaining support from management, identifying an environmental risk assessment process, or determining the right metrics to track. However, by learning how to tackle these challenges head-on, EHS teams can break down barriers, build an effective program, and unlock the true value of risk management.”

Easton is a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) with over 15 years’ experience in the health and safety industry. As a Health & Safety leader at Toyota, he managed the complex implementation of an ISO-based safety management system. Currently, he heads the design and development team at Medgate, a global provider of enterprise EHS software. John holds a Masters degree in Health Sciences – Occupational and Environmental Health.

The EUEC will take place at the Phoenix Convention Center from February 3-5. Easton’s session, part of the Operations Management agenda track, will run from 10:00am – 12:00pm on February 3rd in room 221C.
